July Favorites

Hi guys, this is Atiya and I will be talking about my July favorites today. July was a good month as it is my birthday month and it had Eid this year so double celebration, BOO YA. And then there were quite the few meet-ups with friends and the like so yeah, it’s been an awesome month. Here’s what I have been loving:

Was into the berry and purple tones this month but the real MVP (most valuable player) has been the NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Prague. Mix it with MAC’s Rebel, it’s deep and sultry, mix it with Maybelline’s Color Vivid in Fuchsia Flash it is a bright and summery. On its own, the color is a muted but radiant orchid. I LOVE it. Already planning on getting backups at the rate the sister and I go through it.

A rediscovered favorite was the Sleek Pout Paint in Port. Since I was abroad I didn’t have the chance to use all my makeup so I decided to wear this to a wedding. I am wearing it in the photo below. It looks dark in the tube but it can be layered depending on the look you want. It is a bit fidly to apply, what with a lip brush and all that but the extra minute is worth it. The color is a wine-y purple and looks amazing on our skin tones.

Cajun Shrimp was my first OPI nail polish and to this day, it remains so. I am OBSESSED with this corally red orange. I wore it for a week after my birthday and then got my toes done when I got a pedicure at the salon. It is still on my toes and I have no plans of taking it off (till it becomes chipped and ratchet).

I read three books in July but The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry was my favorite. A.J Fikry is a curmudeonly widower running a dying bookstore on an island. He has an affinity for short stories and hates David Foster Wallace. One day, he finds a baby left at his bookstore and just like that he finds that he has someone to love. I really enjoyed it even though it was so cheesy at times and the literature references kept me entertained. A good book if you want to get out of a reading slump and need something under 200 pages.

Another thing I enjoyed this month was baking. I mean, I do make things from time to time but this month I was ambitious in making this cherry pie and chocolate cupcakes. I love with how they turned out. A little humble bragging is ok, right?

I think I am getting good at this. Thanks @sallysbakeblog!

And finally, song of the month! I loved Cool for the Summer by Demi Lovato. I know that is SO basic but I am a music noob ok? I listen to one song for six months. If you guys have any awesome recommendations, help a girl out.

So that’s it for me. Going to Mission Impossible Five: Rogue Nation  with the fam today so super excited. What are your plans for the weekend? And what have you been loving this month? Talk to me!
