The humidity is insane these days what with the will it/won’t it rain situation. On such days makeup can start smudging into nooks of our faces we didn’t even know we had. ELF Cosmetics Pakistan sent us their Hydrating Bubble Mask and Hydrating Face Primer for review so we decided to do a summer proof makeup look combined with some of the other ELF products we have.
Maybelline Fit Me Concealer
Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in Captivating
ELF Smudge Pot in Brownie Points
Too Faced Better than Sex Mascara
Color Pop Ultra Matte Lips in Speed Dial
What to do:
Flawless makeup begins with flawless skin so I tried out the ELF Hydrating Bubble Mask. It has to be applied to damp skin and the gel-like substance starts foaming the minute it hits the air. It works into a lather, rathe rlike a bubble bath for your face. It doesn’t set like other face masks, so once your face has a thick white layer (which can take from 5-10 mins), you can wash off the bubbles. When it is on your skin you can feel a nice pleasant, tingly sensation and you can hear the bubbles forming on your face. Once washed off, your skin will feel nice and smooth with no irritation.
Next up is priming your face. Now, I know that in the heat it’s better to use mattifying products but I have combination skin so I like some hydration on my cheeks. I applied the ELF Hydrating Face Primer to my skin and worked it in. I have also used the ELF Mineral Infused Face Primer from the ELF Studio line and I like the silicon-y feel of these primers. Atiya also used the primer for her makeup for a couple days and she reports it makes her foundation stay in place all day, so I would say it is a nice thing to have as part of your makeup routine.
I then corrected my imperfection with concealer as I think foundation is too heavy for the summer time.
We got this ELF Smudge Pot as part of a gift because you know, everyone’s aunt like to give the classic ELF and NYX gift. It is a pretty bronzey, coppery color so I used it to make a base for my eyeshadows. Man did this base make the UD Naked eyeshadow in Smog POP on my lids. I am in love.
For the rest of my look, I blended Dark Horse in the crease, Sin in my inner corner and Virgin as the browbone highlight. To keep the look simple, I skipped on the liner and added mascara to open up my eyes more. And that is the eyes done!
Contour, Bake, Highlight
I set my concealer with the banana powder in the ELF Contour Palette. I love this palette as it has two contour shades, the banana powder for baking and a highlighting shade. Perfect for travel or even as a budget contour kit if you are just figuring out the basics.
I contoured my face and then added the highlighter on the tops of my cheeks and that’s my face done.
Mist and Set
I spritzed the ELF Makeup Mist and Set to lock my makeup and finished this summery bronzey look with my favorite nude these days: the Colorpop Ultra Matte Lip in Speed Dial. I love this peachy orange nude SO much, I have used it practically all summer.
So that’s it for the heat and humidity proof makeup look. What are your tips for keeping your makeup in place? I liked keeping it simple with no liner and no foundation and clean skin. Oh, before I forget you can find ELF Cosmetics Pakistan on Facebook and Instagram and try out their products.
